As some of you saw in Long Beach, CA at the NSH Histotechnology Conference, we have been adding new stains & dyes to our product catalog. Here are the highlights:
New Product Introductions/Product Spotlight
Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) Kit
The Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) staining technique illustrates carbohydrates and components of fungal cell walls. This method is effective for the detection of glycogen, polysaccharides, and mucin within tissue samples. Compatible with formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sections as well as frozen tissue specimens.
Standard microbiological stain for identifying parasites in wet mount preparation of fungi. The methyl blue component stains fungal cell walls a bright cerulean color.
The Gomori Trichrome method provided a shorter staining process to Masson’s Trichrome method, yielding similar results. The Gomori Trichrome demonstrates the collagen fibers in a brilliant green shade. This color option is unique to the Gomori Trichrome method.
Viability of semen is a seminal procedure for reproductive biology, animal husbandry, and more. This blog proves a step-by-step guide to how to analyze the samples.
For each of the Ott Scientific companies, our newsletter book recommendations are focusing on the local talents. With Ethos located in New Jersey, here is a few authors that represent the state with amazing works.
This Pulitzer Prize winning book describes the rise and fall of “Swede” Levov through the post-WWII boom and the conflicts and violence in the 1960s. This book, as well as most of this author’s novels and short stories, are set in New Jersey.
A five-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, Joyce Carol Oates has published novels, plays, novellas, short stories, poems, and nonfiction. We Were the Mulvaneys provides a narrative of how the Mulvaneys transform from a happy clan to fragmented individuals fraught with isolation. Through the actions of the youngest son, the clan reunites in love.
Although not a native of New Jersey, Toni Morrison, was a Chair of Humanities at Princeton University from 1989 to 2006. She won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993 and a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for Beloved in 1988. The story chronicles, Sethe, an escaped slave in Ohio, through the tragedy of her life. Although not an easy read, the book provides a perspective on the post-civil war era from a Black female perspective, which enriches the stories of the American experience.
